So today a lot of people has started in streaming in several platforms like specially Youtube and there is a reserved segment called Youtube Gaming also. And Facebook, Twitch and many other platforms are available for streaming. So all those platforms are free of charge and anyone can start just with a creating a free account. So in here how can someone earn money? Usually if you can gain people around your stream by offering them a quality time with your stream, you can do promotional campaigns and you can earn reasonable amount. And if you got really successful in this by gaining a lot of audience around you, this can be done in fulltime by anyone. But for that you must need a unique talent for gaming, in others words we can say style of game playing and exact time periods of continuous streams for your audience.
What kind of a setup required for Streaming?
So now let’s get into what kind of a setup that you need for streaming. Whether it should be a Laptop, Desktop and what the requirements it needed. For a beginner he doesn’t need to go for extreme setup combined with multiple monitors and mics. First of all, you need to choose what is the game you are going to play and steam.
This could be simple fun game like among us and it can be go up to a games like PUBG, Free Fire and COD Warzone. So comparing the game you choose you can decide what kind of a setup you going to go with. So If you are going to go with low requirement game like Among us, A Laptop is enough with on board graphics. And for a Game like PUBG, A laptop an entry level Desktop is more than enough. But If you want go ahead and stream competitive multiplayer plays and latest game plays, you need a better system. So in here I will divide the system into four segments as CPU, GPU, RAM and Storage.
So in here, when we consider the CPU, you should have Six Core CPU for a good stream setup to experience smooth gaming experience for you and your audience. Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 CPU is more than enough to play the latest games while streaming. Next the RAM should be at least 8GB for a Game like PUBG for a good stream but if you into Games like COD Warzone and more complex game 16GB Ram is ideal and if you planning to go extreme setup you can go up to 32GB RAM and above that is not needed for a streamer. So then other segment is the Storage. Current games at least required minimum 50GB space.
So you can go with 1 to 2TB Drive, that’s better. When it comes to GPU, along with the GPU your setup will be differ. So as an example I use a GTX 1650 Super graphic card for my streams and I am not a full time hard core streamer.
So in here you need to have a small understanding about encoding. Usually encoding means capturing your gaming screen and compressing to a lower size files to upload and broadcast to the audience. If the Graphic card do this part this process will be much faster. So if you are using NVIDIA card you can use encoder name NVENC and if you are using AMD card you can use AMD encoder for this process.
Game Streaming Softwares
In here there are several streaming softwares that you can use. NVIDIA Geforce Streaming Software and AMD Adrenalin software can be used for your streaming. But there is a big control to yourself by streaming with Open Broadcaster Softwares (OBS). When it comes to sound system using a Headset would be huge advantage because it won’t be disturbance to audience. Your broadcast software would broadcast the sound whether you have a sound output or not. Getting a better Headset would provide you a better gaming experience but it will not affect your streaming, as I said before the broadcasting software directly broadcast the sound from the system.
And when streaming most of the time you would need to engage with your audience. For that you need a mic. When you choosing a headset it is better to get a one with a mic. But these things are not that much of essentials for streaming if you are do your stream creatively. Audience will love it whether you have a good mic or not. But those things are extra points for a better stream and attract more audience. But if you have the budget you can take your setup more further by installing an external mic for a better personal sound. And the next thing is you are going to need a webcam for yourself. You can stream without showing yourself but it is much better when you stream by showing yourself and talking to your audience. You can choose a webcam that math with your budget.
